Los
Changuitos Feos Musical Instructors

Alberto (Beto) Ranjel
is an alum of Mariachi Los Changuitos Feos, graduating from the
performing group in May 2000. In May 2005 he earned a Bachelor
of Music degree from the University of Arizona, majoring in Vocal
Performance. He completed his teaching certification requirements
and received his Secondary Teaching Certification in Music and
English for the state of Arizona in 2008. Alberto was an
Artist-in-Residence at Salpointe Catholic High School from 2005-2007
and was the director of Mariachi Monarca de Salpointe. Alberto has
taught at the Las Cruces International Mariachi Conference in 2007
and 2008 and the Tucson International Mariachi Conference in 2000,
2001, 2002, 2007, 2008 and 2009. He is currently a faculty member at
Tucson High Magnet School where he teaches mariachi, music theory
and choir. In 2006 Alberto became the lead instructor for El
Mariachi Los Changuitos Feos along with his brother, Luis.

Louie Ranjel is currently studying
music education at the University of Arizona; he also is an alum of
Los Changuitos Feos. Luis has been an instructor at the Tucson
International Mariachi Conference and Las Cruces International
Mariachi Conference. He has been playing mariachi music for 18 years
and has mastered 9 instruments. Luis is now the mariachi instructor
at Salpointe Catholic High School, as well as one of the music
instructors of Los Changuitos Feos. |

Anthony Sanchez is a 2nd Generation
trumpet player for Los Changuitos Feos de Tucson (apprentice
1988-1990, performer from 1992-1997). Anthony has played with, and
helped out, groups from Tucson, AZ and Orlando, Fl. Including:
Mariachi America at the old El Mariachi restaurant. Mariachi El
Fuente at the El Fuente restaurant, Tucson High School Mariachi
Band, The University of Arizona Mariachi Band, Mariachi Tierra del
Sol, Mariachi Tapatio, Mariachi Luz de Luna, Mariachi Azteca del
Sol, and Mariachi Mixteca. Anthony was also a trumpet instructor
twice at the Tucson International Mariachi Conference (1998 and
2001). He will earn a BS degree in Elementary Education from NAU in
the winter of 2008 and plans to teach elementary school, or music or
math in middle school. Anthony has been the trumpet instructor for
Changuitos Feos steadily since 2006.

Los Changuitos Feos de Tucson
is a youth mariachi group whose multiple purposes are to provide
creative and wholesome activity for its members; to develop
members' artistic talent and social maturity; to instill in
members self esteem and pride in music, language and culture; to
develop a sense of community; to promote the City of Tucson; to
entertain and bring joy of spirit to others; and to provide
college scholarship support to graduating members.
