Los Changuitos Feos de Tucson is a youth mariachi group whose multiple purposes are to provide creative and wholesome activity for its members; to develop members' artistic talent and social maturity; to instill in members self esteem and pride in music, language and culture; to develop a sense of community; to promote the City of Tucson; to entertain and bring joy of spirit to others; and to provide college scholarship support to graduating members. |

(click picture to enlarge) 20 October 2006 Join the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (THCC) to celebrate Hispanic Heritage this Saturday- at the University of Arizona football game on 21 October, 2006. Los Changuitos Feos will be representing us in front of thousands of fans at half time. The THCC will have a tent on the mall before the game. Come have lunch and enjoy the Mariachi music! Click here to get details of the celebration in PDF format. 17 October 2006 "I Am Mariachi"- Former Changuito, Sterling Jason Davenport, has written this excellent Poem: "I am a mariachi. I am the strings and wood which makes my guitar. I am the sound my guitar makes because it has become a part of me over the years".... (press here to see the rest of the poem) 8 October 2006 University of Arizona Halftime- Los Changuitos Feos will perform at the Oregon State vs UA football game halftime show for Family Day festivities on the 21st of October. Go Wildcats!!!!!! Go Changuitos!!!!!! 3 October 2006 Ramon M. has written a great synopsis of his and the other Changuitos' experiences at the recent USHCC in Philadelphia. It starts out...plane flight...the city of brotherly love...Puerto Rico. Los Changuitos Feos did a great job representing Tucson at the 27th annual United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Convention. In fact, we have been invited back for the 28th annual convention scheduled for Puerto Rico according to Christina Fern, the current parent representative. Lupita Bachelier, Los Changuitos Feos Activities Director deserves a lot of credit for organizing and leading the group to a very successful set of performances in Philadelphia... Thanks again Lupita! Samantha was asked to sing the National Anthem for the Women's Luncheon. She did an outstanding performance according to Christina. Los Changuitos played at the EXPO from 8 to 1p.m. and drew large crowds and applause. They even attended the GALA event and danced the night away. 24 September 2006

Press here to view it. 3 September 2006 Wildcat House Fundraiser- The Changuitos performed at the Wildcat House on Sunday, September 3 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. The Apprentices & Juvenil joined the group for a successful afternoon.

" It’s the pounding of the guitarron in sync with your heartbeat. It’s the strumming of the armonias setting the mood. It’s the harp, singing like a bird in the trees of Veracruz" .... (Click here rest of the poem). 29 August 2006 4th Avenue Street Fair- Los Changuitos Feos have been invited to perform on the Chocolate Iguana Patio stage from 4:00 - 5:00 pm, Saturday, September 2nd. They did a wonderful job last March ( press here for video). Wildcat House- In order to raise money for the upcoming 27th annual United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Convention, the Changuitos will perform at the Wildcat House on Sunday, September 3 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. Tips for Sombreros at Chuy's- The Changuitos have been working very hard to raise money for new sombreros (Hats) for the Hispanic Conference. They play every Friday night at Chuy's Restaurant from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Please come and join us. We need the community to support us in this endeavor. Last Friday (18Aug06) was great (see below).

1 May 2006 Tucson International Mariachi Conference Congratulations Changuitos for playing in the Student Showcase, the "Espectacular", and at the Garibaldi Festival. You did a wonderful job and made many Tucsonans very happy! 10 March 2006 "Nuestras Raices Literary Arts Festival" , "Homenaje- La Vida de Lalo Guerrero (memorial celebration) was a great event! Los Changuitos Feos started and ended the excellent presentations that celebrated Lalo Guerrero's life's accomplishes. 23 February 2006 Congratulations to the Changuitos for placing first in the best "Musical Entry" at the Tucson Rodeo Parade. The 2006 Musical Directors are talented and experienced (Click to see photos and biographies) *40 Years Of Tradition and Culture Los Changuitos celebrated it’s 40th year on October 9, 2004 at the Casino del Sol AVA Theatre. Alumni and noted celebrants included Lalo Guerrero and Mariachi Cobre, Adalberto Gallegos, and Mariachi Tierra de Sol (40th Anniversary Event Highlights ). The celebration was a great success. A special two DVD set to commemorate the celebration is available now and can be purchased at this Web site (40th Anniversary CD's ON SALE NOW )
